Criminal Investigations conducts follow-up investigations on felony and major misdemeanor offenses, processes crime scenes (fingerprints, photos), collects DNA, digital and trace evidence, Interview victims, witnesses, and suspects , manages criminal intelligence information, conducts employee background checks and many other functions to develop cases for prosecution.
Perry Township’s Criminal Investigations Division is staffed by three detectives and one crime scene photographer. Investigations are reviewed and assigned a priority based upon the seriousness of the offense and solvability of the crime. Some crimes may take weeks, months, or in some cases years to fully investigate and prosecute.
