Beggars Night will be on Thursday, October 31, Halloween night! Trick-or-treat will begin at 6:00 PM and end at 8:00 PM. The date and time of trick-or-treat will not change in the event of inclement weather. We encourage parents and guardians to exercised good judgement in allowing children to participate. 

Perry Township police officers will patrol all neighborhoods for the duration of trick-or-treat. While on patrol, cruisers will have their lights in a steady burn mode to increase their visibility. The cruiser’s lights will remain lit with a steady blue glow and not flashing. The Mounted and Bike Patrol units will also be on patrol during trick-or-treat. If you witness any suspicious or criminal activity, please flag down a patrol officer or call 911. Our officers will be ready to assist. 

Parents and guardians should take extra precautions to ensure that children are safe while trick-or-treating. Follow these tips to keep youngsters safe:

• Kids should carry glow sticks or flashlights, use reflective tape or stickers on costumes and bags, and wear light colors to help them be seen by drivers.
• Remind kids to cross the street at corners or crosswalks.
• When selecting a costume, make sure it is the right size to prevent trips and falls. Choose face paint over masks when possible; masks can limit children’s vision.

For drivers and motorists who plan to be on the road during trick-or-treat hours:

• Slow down and be alert! Kids are excited on Halloween and may dart into the street. Turn on headlights early in the day to spot kids from further away.
• Enter and exit driveways and alleys carefully. 
• Discourage new, inexperienced drivers from driving on Halloween.
