Drowning at Worthington Hills Country Club

On behalf of the Perry Township Board of Trustees, the Fiscal Officer and all Perry Township staff, we offer our sincere condolences to the Kraft family; and, the entire Worthington Hills Community in regards to the tragic death of Jude Kraft.

On Friday afternoon May 26, 2017, Perry Township Police Officers along with Sharon Township Officers, Franklin County Sheriff Deputies and the Columbus Division of Police helicopter unit responded to a report of a missing 6 year old boy at the Worthington Hills Country Club. The boy was reported missing from the pool area. A coordinated search of the pool, Country Club grounds and the Worthington Hills neighborhood began and ultimately the boy, identified as Jude Kraft, was found in the pool. He was pulled from the water by a lifeguard at the pool and Officers immediately began CPR in an effort to resuscitate him. Worthington Division of Fire medics arrived and continued resuscitation efforts; and, transported the boy to Children's Hospital North where Jude Kraft was pronounced dead.

Doctor Mark A. Hickman, the Delaware County Coroner, reported that there was no evidence of traumatic injury and he has ruled this matter an accidental drowning.
